In this really fun project, I worked with Colletivo Design to create the look of Last Laughs, a game about helping people start difficult conversations about death with their loved ones.

My task was to create all the illustrations, taking the characters and scenes written by the Rise & Run team and developing their visual style from the moodboard phase to the finishing touches.

Our objective was to create surrealistic and fun illustrations, while still keeping a subtle connection with the serious subjects involved and without alienating older folks. So I focused on creating friendly humanoid creatures in grayscale, with some surreal details in their design highlighted by spots of color that correspond to the card’s category.

That way, characters can reappear in cards of different categories, with those details changing color accordingly.
